>2010-10-01 – Friday Whisper – Your Blueprint

Philip Bosman’s quote

As we go through our lives, most of us feel that they fail themselves in some places, somehow…some things didn’t go the way we wanted…we imagined our life to be in a certain way and it turned out to be totally different.
You thought by 30 you will be married with kids; and here you are at 35 and still single?
You thought by 35 you will have your own business; and here you are at 40 and still working for others?
You thought you will marry your love of life and live happily ever after; and here you are, either you have broke up with him/her or you are struggling with your couple relationship and having challenges raising your kids?
You thought that once you are married it will be forever; and here you are divorced with kids?
You thought that by 40 you will have a successful career; and here you are still trying to figure out what do you really want to do?
You thought that by 55 you will have your retirement planned; and here you are at 60 wondering how you are going to make it at 65?
I’m sure you can add your own example to this list…Now the question is why is it really so? Did you really fail? Or you just kept forcing your life to match a blueprint that you had created earlier in your life?
Yes, a blueprint that we draw for ourselves for different reasons: maybe because we were told that this is the only way to do it, or we copied the wrong idol, or simply we watched too many movies…
Maybe you will be single for the rest of your life, maybe you will end up getting married but not the way you thought, maybe you will never have your own company, maybe you will get married but never have kids, maybe you will keep working till you are 70!!! So what!
Please! Get real and accept the fact that your life didn’t turn out the way you always wanted!
Get real and go with the flow instead of crying over a life that was never meant to be!
Get real and start appreciating what you have achieved so far!
We can’t go back in time, that’s for sure but we can do some changes from now on… So here what I suggest:
-Go back few years in time
-Draw/write how you pictured your life is going to be on a piece of paper
-Get a lighter or some matches
-Put the paper on fire
-Now draw how your life is now and see how you can take it to a place where you can be happy and fulfilled
-Use a pencil so that future changes would be possible
Dr. Frank Crane, a Presbyterian minister, a speaker and a columnist, said: “Nobody has things just as he would like them. The thing to do is to make a success with what material I have. It is a sheer waste of time and soul-power to imagine what I would do if things were different. They are not different.”
When your actual road diverts from your blueprint, follow the road not the print…
