2011-07-08 – Friday Whisper – When You’re on your deathbed…

When you’re on your deathbed, you will be done with lots of things: done of going thru the traffic, of getting sick, of feeling back pain, headache, toothache… done of waking up in the morning not wanting to go to school/work, of doing the laundry, the grocery and other house chores….  done with people who tell you what to do and not to do… done with seeing people you can’t stand… done with having your heart broken… done with fighting with your partner… done with taking care of your responsibilities 24/7…

But when you’re on your deathbed, it means also that you have used all your chances to make your life a better one…

Remember your school days, while you’re taking an exam, you would wish you had spent few more minutes on this subject or that one. Then, when you got your results, how you would look at the wrong answers and say to yourself: “if only I take this exam again, I will fix the mistakes and get better results…” Remember that feeling? Can you revive it?

Imagine when you are on your death bed, you relive a similar feeling again telling yourself: “if I only I relive my life again, I will fix the mistakes and get better results…and I would live happier worrying about things that really matter, taking care of the right people, giving them more of my time and effort, worrying less about material things that will stay, belonging to others, once I leave…”

During school days, if you fail one exam, you always have a chance to study for the final one or even making it up in another course…

But when you are on your deathbed, there’s nothing else that you can do or another way to make up your average…what is done is done, you can’t move backward…it is like the final grade you get from your school at the end…You carry whatever final result you got to other universities or sometimes job applications… unchanged, tattooed in your portfolio for ever….

Well, every time you wake up in the morning, you get automatically another chance of fixing the mistakes and getting better results… mistakes will keep happening, I know, but you trying your best is what counts…readdressing your priorities in your life is what counts… letting go of materialistic things and holding on to precious moments and people is what counts…

I don’t mean to talk about your death, but your life… I want to make sure that you are not taking your life for granted… don’t think that tomorrow you will make your life better…just think that today you will make the best out of it….

Oprah Winfrey, American host, said: “The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.”

Live your life in a way that when you’re on your deathbed, you will be proud of your results, even if you don’t end up with the full grade…

Try to impress people less...
