2013-03-08 – Friday Whisper – A Teacher…

If it weren’t for a teacher, you wouldn’t be able to read this now…

If it weren’t for a teacher, you wouldn’t be able to get where you are in your career today…

And I am sure each one of you knew one teacher who changed his/her life forever… your life wouldn’t turned out the same without that him/her…

A teacher helps you learn…

A teacher pushes you to go the extra mile in your studies…

A teacher works at home, on weekends, to prepare an easier material for you…

A teacher puts up with your mood swings, your learning difficulties, your hyperactivity in class, your childhood, your puberty, your “I am a grown-up now” phase, your “I am cool” jokes, your “I am a stud” phase and “I am Miss Pageant” phase.

A teacher listens to you when you are having personal problems…

A teacher puts you back on the right path when he/she sees you going astray…

A teacher jumps up higher than your parents, when you pass an official exam…

Even when having tough days, a teacher still make it to work because he/she knows that a work day missed for one is a learning day missed for many…

Henry Brooks Adams, an American journalist, said: “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.”

And Helen Caldicott, an Australian author, said: “Teachers, I believe, are the most responsible and important members of society because their professional efforts affect the fate of the earth.”

A country where its teachers are well taken care of, guarantees a future generation well taken care of…

This whisper is dedicated to all the teachers of Lebanon on the occasion of Teacher’s day, and who are still fighting hard for their rights to have a decent life… It is time for you to get what you deserve!
